New York Comedy Festival

Nick Swardson is one lucky comic. In addition to headlining the 2010 New York Comedy Festival, Nick is starring in his first ever prime-time show on Comedy Central! (Watch a preview clip here). “Nick Swardson's Pretend Time” is a sketch show slated to premier this fall, and given Nick's past forays into sketch and characters, we can only assume 'Pretend Time' will premier to last episode of M*A*S*H* level ratings.

For those of you who have never heard of Nick Swardson – infants, Japanese WWII vets still hiding out on Pacific Islands, dogs – here's a quick rundown of Nick's most famous work:

Smokin' Weed – Nick's biggest foray into YouTube, the video “Smokin' Weed” has been watched almost 2 MILLION times! To be fair though, 1.9 million of those views were by 35 stoners who had forgot that they had already watched the video…over and over and over again. But even those narcs out there with their 'jobs' and 'intact short term memories' have probably heard Nick's famous “Smokin' Weed” catch phrase “All I do,” which has become a modern-day 'Vini, Vidi, Vici' for people who buy Cheetos at 7-11 at 3:30 in the morning. 'Terry' from Reno 911 – Possibly America's most lovable down-on-his-luck male prostitute, Nick Swardson's character Terry stole every scene on Comedy Central's much-loved Reno 911. With his booty shorts, rollerblades, and jobs (cashier, hand, and slob) at Tacos! Tacos! Tacos!, Terry is one of Reno's most illustrious citizens, who's main goal in life is just to spread joy, $5 at a time. Watch the best of Nick Swardson's truly hilarious turn as Terry here.

Grandma's Boy – The 2002 film by Adam Sandler is a true masterpiece of immaculate immaturity and, of course, stars Nick Swardson. The plot of Grandma's Boy is in worst taste than anything so far mentioned in this post (and thats saying something) but loosely involves sex, drugs, and the elderly. Nick's humor might not necessarily be for everyone – really just people who like funny jokes and stuff – but for those fans old and new, 'Pretend Time' and Nick's show at the 2010 New York Comedy Festival will make you feel as lucky as Swardson himself.
